Name, Band Name, Serial Number, Date, Paint Style, Comments

Harry/hieronymous, serial # JAPAN010, 2/23/99, basic black

Picked up this older used pedal here in Kyoto. I had seen it before, but assumed it was new and way overpriced (list price for Z.Vex pedals here is $500-700!!!), was overjoyed to find it used and reasonably priced!

As for the sound? I love it! Twisted! I've been using my Fender Jaguar Bottom Master (a new version of the Bass VI) and it sounds great! Kinda clean and tweaked at the same time... Shocked

well, I sold my machine. and although I am sad, I made a fellow Japan-dweller happy, on Christmas Day no less!

and in honour of the occasion, I recorded one last piece, entitled, appropriately enough, "goodbye machine".

(Sorry, had to take the link down.)
Might as well give the recording details:
bass2: Gibson Melody Maker bass--> EH Black Finger compressor--> Machine--> MXR 10-band EQ--> Fulltone Bass Driver--> Roland RE-201 Space Echo--> Alembic F2-B preamp--> Protools
bass1: same as the above but without Machine or Space Echo

So I decided to quickly go back and re-record the bass line to "goodbye machine" using a woolly mammoth.

(Had to take this link down too...)
So now bass #1 is: Gibson Melody Maker bass--> EH Black Finger compressor--> Z.Vex Woolly Mammoth--> MXR 10-band EQ--> Alembic F2-B preamp--> Protools
bass #2 is Gibson Melody Maker bass--> EH Black Finger compressor--> Machine--> MXR 10-band EQ--> Fulltone Bass Driver--> Roland RE-201 Space Echo--> Alembic F2-B preamp--> Protools

Note that I'm using the same link - you can't hear the previous version anymore Crying or Very sad

Thanks Robzilla - unfortunately, the Woolly is the only Z.Vex pedal in my possession right now. This was actually the first time I'd used the Woolly in a while, and it was fun! I had forgotten how synth-like it can sound. I've got a few recordings on the back-burner, but unfortunately I don't have any time to work on them for at least a few weeks...

Oh, and I forgot to say, the low bassline is played with fingers, while the lead "machine" bassline is played with a Wedgie rubber pick...
